BLURRED LINES – film festival showcases the finest examples of art-house and psychological cinema, addressing complex and ambiguous themes that require analysis. The festival's name reflects its mission: to present films to audiences where there is no clear boundary between good and evil, right or wrong decisions, where the lines between reality and imagination are blurred.
The festival advocates for the advancement of cinematic art by focusing on films that typically do not receive widespread recognition but have the potential for significant cultural impact. Additionally, the festival facilitates cultural exchange by featuring films from various countries, stimulating the exchange of ideas.
The logo is created with a grotesque font that is easily readable in any format. However, the logo has become dynamic - it can be rotated by 90, 180, 270, and 360 degrees. This reflects the films themselves that are selected for screening at the festival - they can alter our perception, change perspectives, play with form, time, and boundaries.
The basis of working with the image is the lines, which directly reference the title. The image is formed by lines, similar to dots in classical halftone. The result resembles an image we might have seen on the screens of old televisions, where the stripes could even be moving.
When a person squints, their eyelashes also create a linear pattern. This approach to image creation encourages people to look deeper, to look between the lines, between the meanings, to look beyond the usual, to look further.
The grid that serves as the basis for the entire festival design directly references cinema. It is constructed according to the rule of thirds, which is used to create a compelling composition.
Using this rule in design, we extend the aesthetics of cinema beyond the screens and theaters, inviting people to attend the festival.
